Tucson Adult
Chamber Players

This season, Arizona Friends of Chamber Music offers two chamber music workshops for adult amateur musicians, one in Fall 2025, and another in Spring 2026.

Tucson Adult Chamber Players (TACP) is an educational chamber music opportunity for amateur string, wind, and piano players. This program brings together musicians from all over Tucson and Southern Arizona, helps to build musical communities, provides world-class learning opportunities, and brings the joy and passion of chamber music into daily life.

If you are an adult string, wind, or piano player, we invite you to join. Participants receive eight (8) 90-minute coaching sessions with experienced, professional musicians. At the end, every group gets to share what they’ve learned at a recital. All levels and abilities are welcome. If you are a new participant, you will schedule a placement audition in order to be matched with the appropriate group (you can play anything that best demonstrates your ability on your instrument (NO sight reading required).

Pre-formed groups are welcome and have the option of receiving coaching only without performing in the final recital.

Sessions

DETAILS

Who can join?
Any string, wind or piano player is welcome to join.
Are you dusting off your fiddle after 25 years away? Come join us!
Do you currently play with a chamber ensemble? Your group is welcome to join!
Are you an adult beginner? A semi-professional musician? This is for you.

How does it work?
Participants form chamber groups with the help of experienced coaches. You have eight(8) 90-minute coaching sessions. At the end, you get to show off what you’ve learned at a recital. Adults of all levels and abilities are welcome to join!

New participants are required to schedule a placement audition with the coaches and program director. This is a great opportunity for you to meet us, and for us to hear you play. After hearing everyone, we will build groups based on ability, and will assign repertoire that will be an enjoyable challenge for each group.

When and where do we rehearse?
Rehearsals are arranged by each group based on mutual availability, and are held in the homes of the participants, at the home of one of the coaches or at another central location, as needed.

Do I have to perform?
If you are joining with a pre-formed group and ALL members agree that they prefer to participate in coachings but NOT in the final recital, you may register as a Non-Performing group. Individuals registrants may not choose the Non-Performing.
