Master Classes
Musicians who perform in our Now Music series give free master classes for members of the Tucson Junior Strings and students of the Tucson Music Teachers’ Association. This enables us to support both the 21st century’s finest young artists and Tucson’s dedicated music students. Performers at the Tucson Winter Chamber Music Festival regularly give free master classes for U of A music students. The Juilliard Quartet gave master classes to young string quartets from UA, ASU and University High. The master classes are also free for audience attendance.
A Master Class with Allan Vogel
During the 2011 Tucson Winter Chamber Music Festival, oboist Allan Vogel gave a master class for students of Neil Tatman, Associate Professor of Music at the University of Arizona.
Mr. Vogel has been hailed by the L.A. Times as “an aristocrat of his instrument, an oboe virtuoso with few equals.” Principal oboist of the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, he has been a soloist with orchestras throughout the country and has been featured at the Marlboro, Santa Fe, Aspen, Mostly Mozart, and Oregon Bach Festivals. We are very happy to be able to share this class with everyone.
