Dr. Norman Boehm, piano
Norman Boehm, former music professor at Hendrix College, holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Michigan and a doctorate from the Eastman School of Music. His teachers have included Charles Fisher, Eugene Bossart, Clark Eastham, Benning Dexter, and David Burge. Boehm has performed in Europe and South Africa, as well as in the U.S., and specializes in music from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. In addition to performing as a soloist and chamber musician, he is also a composer, arranger, and sometime conductor.
Evgeniya Belinskaya, violin
Evgeniya Belinskaya currently lives in Tucson with her husband and two daughters, aged 15 and 10. Originally from Novosibirsk, Russia, she began playing the violin at the age of six. From the beginning, she successfully participated in annual competitions for young violinists from Siberia, the Urals, and the Far East. She won the Grand Prix at a competition when she was eight. In 1990, Evgeniya entered the Novosibirsk Specialized Music School at the Novosibirsk State Music Academy named after M.I. Glinka. She studied under Professor Matvey B. Liberman for the first year and later under Professor Alexey V. Gvozdev until 2000. During this period, Evgeniya performed as a soloist in Russia and abroad, including in the UK, Germany, France, and other countries. In 1992, she won a diploma at the All-Soviet Union Contest “Youthful Assemblies of Arts” in Moscow. In 1998, she became the winner of the II Prize at the II Novosibirsk International Violin Competition, directed by Professor Zakhar Bron. Since 2000, Evgeniya has continued her education in Vienna, Austria. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in performance from the University of Music and Performing Arts, Vienna, in 2006, and her Master’s degree from the University of Arizona in 2017. Evgeniya’s repertoire embraces various epochs and styles, from baroque music to compositions of the 20th century.
Dr. Diana Yusupov, cello
Diana Yusupov has been playing the cello since she was eight years old. She was accepted into the advanced performer’s program at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music at 15 to study with renowned cellist and teacher Markus Stocker. While completing her Bachelor’s degree, Diana received two Piatti awards, the Basil Jones Sonata Prize, and the Bach Prize. Diana appeared in masterclasses with Jian Wang, Peter Bruns, and Steven Isserlis. Diana moved to Arizona in 2016, where she continued her musical studies, gaining her Master’s and DMA degrees in the studio of Dr. Theodore Buchholz at the University of Arizona. For four years, Diana was a member of Quartet Lyrique, performing in concerts, festivals, and competitions around the USA. The group also performed in Canada and China. In 2019, Diana won the LMC of Seattle competition, which resulted in a solo concert tour around Western Washington. Currently, Diana resides in Phoenix, where she holds the Director of Orchestras position at BASIS Chandler. In addition to her music degrees, Diana has a Bachelor’s degree in Australian Law from Queensland University of Technology and a Master’s in U.S. Law from George Mason University. She is currently preparing to sit for her bar exam.
Dr. Tiezheng Shen, viola
Award-winning violist Tiezheng Shen has performed as a viola soloist across Europe, Asia, and North America. He has made his solo debuts at Carnegie Hall and Wiener Saal Mozarteum in Salzburg as a winner of international competitions. Dr. Shen has served as a guest artist for several universities, including the Conservatorio Nacional de Música in Mexico City and the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México. Dr. Shen is the founder and director of the ViolaVoice International Viola Festival, one of the largest international viola festivals in Central America, held in Mexico City. Currently, he teaches at the University of Central Arkansas.
