Dover Quartet Carnegie Hall Debut
“…the young American string quartet of the moment.”
—The New Yorker
The spellbinding Dover Quartet, already considered one of the great young quartets, passed another milestone last Friday with their extraordinary Carnegie Hall debut. Performing to a sold-out audience, the Dover filled the hall with stunning interpretations of three of the anchors of the string quartet literature, Dvorak’s “American” Quartet, Berg’s Op. 3 string quartet, and Beethoven’s first Razumovsky quartet, the Quartet in F Major, Op. 59, No. 1. Their assured performance left no doubt that the Quartet will make an indelible mark.
The Dover Quartet catapulted to international stardom following a stunning sweep of the 2013 Banff International String Quartet Competition, becoming one of the most in-demand ensembles in the world. The Philadelphia Inquirer lauded the Quartet’s “sound so distinctive as to be identified within mere minutes,” and The Washington Post raved that the Quartet “should be on must-hear lists…a triumph.”
