The LUMIES!
The Lumies, organized by the Tucson-Pima Arts Council and “hosted in partnership with business, arts, and government community members”, “honor outstanding arts luminaries who have made significant contributions to artistic and cultural vitality in the region”.
The “Arts Patron” award, presented at the Lumie Awards ceremony on June 15, 2012, honors Dr. Bierny’s vision and his inspired leadership of the Arizona Friends of Chamber Music for 35 years.
Together with the dedicated members of the AFCM Board “he has brought the world’s greatest musicians to the Tucson stage. He co-founded the Tucson Winter Chamber Music Festival, now in its 20th successful year, the highly popular Piano & Friends concert series, and a commissioning program that has sponsored the composition of fifty new works.”
