The 250th anniversary of Beethoven’s birth will be in 2020, and AFCM began celebrating in 2016 with Sharon Robinson performing all that composer’s cello sonatas. With a survey of his quartets still on the horizon, we next present all of Beethoven’s full-scale piano trios in a special two-night series, featuring chamber music’s power couple, cellist David Finckel and pianist Wu Han, plus Finckel’s colleague from his Emerson Quartet days, violinist Philip Setzer. This is a rare opportunity to trace Beethoven’s development in a single medium from his very first opus to his noble and compelling “Archduke” Trio.
