- Joseph Haydn: Quartet in C Major (“The Bird”), Op. 33 No. 3
- Jonathan Berger: Tango Alla Zingarese
- Mark Applebaum: Dead Name
- Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart: Quartet in D Minor
Two superb Classical-era quartets frame two recent works written for the St. Lawrence Quartet by colleagues at Stanford University (where the St. Lawrence has been quartet in residence since 1998). Berger’s tango, with its twittering introduction, is an especially apt partner for Haydn’s “Bird” Quartet.
