He continued his piano education at the Gnessin Russian Music Academy with Professor Theodor Gutmann, a student and assistant of Heinrich Neuhaus, who taught in the celebrated Russian piano tradition. Alexander received a full scholarship for doctoral studies with Professor Nohema Fernandez at the University of Arizona in Tucson.

Alexander performed as the orchestra soloist, piano recitalist, and chamber musician in Russia and in the United States. He currently teaches music courses at Pima Community College in Tucson and maintains a private piano studio of children and adult students.  Alexander is also a sought-after lecturer and scholar teaching music courses for adults for the Learning Curve in Tucson.
